Through the State of Guanajuato

Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende are these gorgeous colonial-era towns that are literally built into the mountains. In Guanajuato, there are underground lighted tunnels, cobblestone streets, pastel-colored buildings with crumbling paint stacked on top of each other and a distinct Italian vibe. My friend and I walked around gasping the whole time at how stunning the place is. San Miguel was less grandiose — and more packed with Americans — but still a charming place. We ate, drank, were merry, rode a canasta up a hill to see the entire town of Guanajuato, saw a circus in San Miguel and took many photos …
