This past Saturday saw the annual Gay Pride Parade in Mexico City. Extending from the Angel statue on Reforma Avenue — said to be the longest continuous street in the world — to the Historical Center, legions of Mexicans and foreigners partied on the streets of D.F and called for an improvement in gay rights.
I went with my friend/roommate Grace. We were standing on the sidewalk, people-watching, dancing to the reggaeton, waving at the people on the floats passing by, when suddenly we are pulled up on to one of the floats. Good times ensued.
“Mexico City is amazing for being one of the only cities in Latin America where this event can actually take place,” Grace said that afternoon. Indeed, it is.
